Kicking things off is the Sport, and it, like all Wranglers, comes standard with a 3.6-liter V6 that pumps out 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, which pairs with a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission. Optional on all trims is either a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 270 horsepower or the all-new 3.0-liter diesel. Both engines connect to the eight-speed automatic transmission. As for features, the Sport comes with 17-inch steel wheels, skid plates and tow hooks, foglights, a fold-down windshield, cruise control, push-button start, a height-adjustable driver’s seat with two-way lumbar adjustment, and a one-piece folding rear seat. Tech features for the Sport include a 5-inch touchscreen, a rearview camera, Bluetooth, and an eight-speaker sound system. Unlimted versions of the Sport come with two extra doors as well as a bigger gas tank and air conditioning.
A sub-trim available is the Sport S which adds to the Sport with alloy wheels, automatic headlights, remote locking and unlocking, heated power mirrors, power windows and locks, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and sun visors. The Unlimted version, known as the Altitude, adds 18-inch wheels, heavy-duty brakes and suspension, a hardtop, and a rear window defroster and washer. Three special editions are available, and they build off the Sport S features. The Black and Tan adds all-terrain tires, side rails, a larger driver information display, a 7-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. More off-road features are available for the Willy’s in the form of a limited-slip rear differential, heavy-duty brakes, rails and shocks lifted from the Rubicon trim, and 32-inch all-terrain tires. Last but not least is the Freedom, which comes with military-themed graphics, a soft top, tinted windows, and all-terrain tires.
With the Sahara, the four-door configuration comes standard while adding most of the features from the Sport S Altitude and Black and Tan models. There is also a mild eTorque system with all the engine options to help with fuel economy. Also coming standard is painted exterior body panels and trim. Optional is a full-time four-wheel-drive system with a lockable center differential. The Altitude version of the Sahara includes a hardtop and rear window washer and defroster, plus leather upholstery and a leather-wrapped shifter.
The Rubicon is the most off-road of all the Jeep Wranglers, and it gets all of the Sahara’s equipment while adding 7-inch wheels, special tires, heavy-duty axles with shorter gearing, and 4.0-to-1 low-range gearing. Also standard are electronic front and lockable rear differentials, an electronically disconnecting front stabilizer bar, rock rails, and upgraded cloth upholstery.
